More talent releases

Just in time for the WWE's 3rd 1/4 analysis and how they're performing and making revenue higher than expected.

'Budget constraints' a term we should use loosely again the reason behind this batch of cuts.

Not as surprising as others such as Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman but it appears this time that it's another signal that NXT wasn't working with Keith Lee and Killer Kross getting the axe. I think they waited to long to promote Lee to the main roster while I just didn't think they believed in Kross.

Others such as Lucha Party and Nia Jax won't come as much of a surprise with the former being off TV and the latter being known as 'stiff and dangerous' to work with, and also had a run in with Charlotte.

Harry Smith's release makes me wonder why they hired him instead of giving him a try out.

While I think the refreshments with NXT was needed, without recruitment to the main roster, the reliance on an aging roster is just going to continue.

When you look this at face value, yeah it makes absolutely no sense that they've release so much talent since they are doing record profit. But when you go and dig deeper, it kinda make sense. Like it or not, WWE stockpiled talents for years trying to kill off the indy scene with NXT and wouldn't release anybody. When AEW arrive, they made sure to keep as much wrestlers as possible by giving them huge salary hike which made the talent budget go up really fast while the return to that investment didn't pay off, especially in NXT which was in the red every year and wasn't turning long-term stars.

So then they saw that AEW wasn't that much of a competition to them since they pretty the ratings pretty much stayed at 1 million, so they didn't see the need to pay all these wrestlers to do nothing while they could use that money for other stuff. So that's why they went on a release spree lately.

I look at who they release in the last 2 waves and outside of Nia and John Morrison, nobody really feel like a big surprise and were all expendable especially when you see all the future stars they are building in the new nxt

The challenge now, I guess for writers is to make the characters transition from NXT to WWE as smooth as possible, more often than not we've seen the likes of Keith Lee spend too long in NXT before getting the call and it's killed their momentum.

Bron Brekker (hate the name) could probably get called up now but he's still 'green' and staying in NXT for another few months will do him good, what I like about NXT is that keeping the veterans like Ciampa, Strong, LA Knight, O'Reilly and Kushida around will help Brekker and others in their preparation for the step up.
