Non-Wrestlers Are Getting Good At Wrestling?

Spidey Revivey

Porn is okay here long as it ain't dudes.
What's up with this?

I can't be alone in thinking this lately. People like Ronda Rousey and Stephen Amell may not be diamonds in the rough here, but they're not objectively terrible. A few days ago, Amell fought Christopher Daniels at All In in what was his third or so match period. Rousey quickly became THE women's wrestler to watch for due to a great debut at Wrestlemania 34. Both have been praised by the snarkiest of fans.

My thought process on this is simple - these celebs are better than their predecessors because they take their training seriously. You can tell they have a passion for wrestling. They're not plugging their products or taking over the shows. Amell and Rousey work hard to look good in the ring and it shows. I want to think positive on this and say this could lead to a trend years down the line for more non-wrestlers to put the work in to make their matches at least okay to see. The days of Drew Carrey walking around at the Rumble or guest hosts taking up space are dead, right? Am I alone in thinking celebs are trying to impress more than promote these days?

They're actual fans and not just looking for a payday is what I think.

I've watched quite a bit of old school wrestling in my time and when a celebrity would appear they would plug whatever they were there to promote and do the ring announcing or time keeping

Today it's different. You have Stephen Amell who is a big enough fan to train with Cody and risk his lively hood performing for a new set of fans instead of playing it safe.

Rousey i can tell legitimately cares about what she does and wants to get better every day so that and so does a lot of others. Her popularity just made it easy for her.

Nah, it's not that celebrities are getting better, it's that wrestling is getting worse. In the old days professional wrestlers were presented as the toughest athletes in the world. No one could beat them. Even Muhammed Ali was easily thrown around by Gorilla Monsoon. Today it is the complete opposite. Wrestlers always lose to celebrities. When some puny little rapper beats the man who was World champion just weeks ago, that make EVERYONE on the roster look bad. This is one of the many reasons why Professional Wrestling is looked at as an embarrassment by the public today.

While I agree that wrestlers shouldn't always lose to celebrities, I think a large amount of celebrities who participate in matches now do put more training into it than in previous years.

The days of Jay Leno, Lawrence Taylor etc appearing like a deer in the headlights needs to be consigned to history.
