Scott Steiner's 1998 feuds after Rick Steiner

TEIWCSCSAATBHPHASP

Pre-Show Stalwart
Scott Steiner spent most of 1998 feuding with his own brother and former tag team partner Rick Steiner. Long before the infamous Steiner Brothers breakup at SuperBrawl VIII (8) at San Francisco, California which witnessed a slow-burning heel turn for Scott. Many marks thought it was Rick that was going back to being a heel for the first time since 1987-88, but it was clear that bookers originally wanted Rick to benefit from the Steiner Brothers feud just because Scott's early Big Poppa Pump matches were unimpressive. But it wasn't until Eric Bischoff and Buff Bagwell truthfully gave him the green light to rant, rave and speak his own mind through swearing in shoot promos that Scott became truly more entertaining than Rick.

However, Scott's first PPV match as a full-time singles heel was shockingly not against Rick, but none other than Lex Luger at Uncensored 1998 that ended with Rick interfering on Luger's behalf, and Norton interfering on Scott's behalf. Luger gaining the upper hand over Scott via torture rack is another indication of how the bookers wanted Rick to get the upper hand over Scott earlier on. However, nobody won the feud since smarks liked to complain that a possible Rick Steiner/Scott Steiner feud would be plagued with outside interference, especially from Scott's faction, initially the original nWo and later the nWo Hollywood camp, while Rick still helped Luger despite the fact that Rick was still a part of the dwindling Team WCW while Luger and Sting joined the nWo Wolfpac.

But prior to the Slamboree 1998 PPV, bookers needed Scott Steiner (on crutches due to either a bad ankle from ankle fusion surgery as White Thunder, or a concussion due to the infamous nWo dividing into two, or several long-term herniated disks that made him give up on doing the Frankensteiners every week) to tease a Steiner Brothers reunion with Rick, probably indicating that Kevin Nash wanted Scott Hall, Buff Bagwell, Scott Steiner, Curt Hennig and Rick Rude to join the Wolfpac, but Hogan said NO and thus, just when it seemed like Scott was going to change his ways, Brian Adams comes out and was credited for putting Rick Steiner out of action. And when Rick came back, he was no longer the same performer at his peak due to surgical complications from shoulder surgery, thus bookers changed it to either Scott getting the better of the feud or drawing it out through World War 3 (1998).

After World War 3 was through, Scott Steiner moved on to feuding with nWo Wolfpac member Konnan for the WCW Television Championship Belt. However, I reckon Scott didn't even have a feud with Sting, which would've jump started his singles career with a much better career trajectory than Scott ending up just barely a one-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion in 2000-01, even though WCW built their promotion around heel champions, which Scott fit that bill. Scott Steiner definitely should've had a singles feud with Sting, especially since Rick Steiner ultimately became just another guy who did nothing of note since the Steiner Brothers breakup, and truthfully since 1992 when Rick started getting plagued by the injury bug.
