Lethal likes one thing that could make him special: charisma. He has personality, but he lacks that charisma needed to be a big name player. Unless he's immitating a legend on the mic, he's very bland. Don't get me wrong, he's a very talented wrestler. But he just doesn't have that "it" factor that makes me care about him, or when he goes missing.
What now for Lethal? I think he should be headlining the X division, with the X division being a prominent part of the show. I see Lethal as the kind of guy who could carry a secondary title to prominence simply because of his wrestling ability. He's never going to be a big name player because he simply doesn't have what it takes to make people invest in him, but he showed in years past, especially in his feud with 3D and Johnny Devine that he could carry the X Division, which certainly isn't the worst thing in the world.
