3 times Cena was supposed to turn heel.

this is just what I’ve read over the years don’t know if they are true or not,

The first time was late 2005 going into early 2006. Cena was reportedly willing to turn heel he was getting negative reactions from the crowd because obviously they knew where the wwe was going with him for the next 9 years. But Vince shot down the idea of Cena turning heel.

The second time. Was during the feud with kane involving Zack Ryder and eve.

The third time. Would have been at wrestlemania 28. And this was very very close to happening but at the last second vince pulled the plug.

There was never a good reason to turn John Cena heel.

He was already basically a heel, in that he had heel heat while playing a face. If the goal is the same as with a heel in which you use their heat to make the crowd love their opponent more, then John Cena had that for the majority of his career.

I remember when fans were chanting Triple H's name at a WrestleMania press conference, even though he was using his A material to make them hate him in preparation of his match against Cena. Triple H usually doesn't earn cheers as an individual, so it was pretty astonishing.

When John was going up against CM Punk, he was doing just fine being regular old him.

When John wrestled RVD, in an ECW arena, John's heat almost caused the crowd to melt-down and riot.

If you turned around and started making John utilize heel tactics, he would just look desperate. Some of us still love to hate him today.

The first one makes no sense as it was during his ascension. Two and three are almost the exact same time. The Kane feud was filler leading to the Rock match. Why would they waste a heel turn then?

The Rock feud, there was speculation he might, but to say “supposed to” is a stretch.

And honestly, John Cena’s dynamic was virtually perfect. Roman Reigns had that dynamic going for awhile, but not nearly as well. But during his time on top, there were more threads here by his haters than anyone. It’s human nature.

It should have happened, even for a short stint.

Cena as a heel would still have shifted merchandise and it would have added another edge to his character as a heel.
