Has Returned.
Every year since 1973 have one person been granted this award. We get a long look back into the life of the people inducted. It is perhaps one of the arguably greatest awards you can achieve in the film business (At least I would say it's one of the greatest).

There's a long list of people inducted in here. Many with great accomplishments that any given film star can only aspire to achieve in his life.

2008 Warren Beatty 71
2009 Michael Douglas 64
2010 Mike Nichols 78

That's quite a list if you ask me. Many of these people have accomplished more than the other. But they all deserve to be there in their own respect.

In 2011 there's gonna be yet another one. While there's still quite a while for the nominations or the decision to be made. I'm curious to see what some of you people would like to see being given this award in 2011.

While some may disagree. Or some may agree. I think that Mel Gibson could definitely be in line to be given this award. He has had quite a career. Many big movies as well as a decent handful of movies that he has produced and directed.

As well I would say that perhaps Sylvester Stallone could be in line for one as well. While he hasn't done anything directing or producing he has definitely been a part of some major movies. Most noticeably the Rocky series.

Who do you think is in line for this award in 2011?

I agree that Mel Gibson deserves to be on there for his body of work, but man... that's not going to happen any time soon with his, well, you know.

Anyways, who would I choose?

Well, the first name that comes to mind is Brian De Palma. Maybe that's because Tdigs and I talked about him a bit last night, but he definitely deserves to get this honor before he dies. The guy was basically the Quentin Tarantino of the late seventies and eighties. Dude released classic after classic with movies like Carrie, Blow Out, Scarface, Casualties of War, The Fury, etc. He's released a bunch of stinkers since the nineties, but that still doesn't take away from his earlier work.

As far as actors/actresses go... Daniel-Day Lewis and Michelle Pfieffer immediately come to mind for me. You might argue that Lewis hasn't had enough roles to make this list, and well... I say bullshit to that when Tom Hanks made it in 2002. As far as Michelle Pfieffer... well, you know, she's just the best American actress I can think of who's been around long enough that's not on that list. She's had a very long, tremendous career, and she's one of the most versatile actors period I've ever seen. She definitely deserves to get this honor sooner or later.
