Has Jonny Lang lost it (my respect)?

WZ's Whedonite. Now 20% Cooler
As many of you may know, I'm a fan of music of all kinds. Well, lately, I've been listening alot to one of ,if not, the Greatest blues guitarists/vocalists of the last couple decades, Jonny Lang. Just as I was starting to re-learn why I love his music, I heard from a co-worker that he's featured on the new Jonas Brothers record. Now, I'm starting to find myself in conflict. On the one hand, you've got a great blues artist, who started recording in 1995, at the age of 15. He more than deserves props for that. He's also been compared to legends like Eric Clapton, and BB King.

My question to you all is, why would a true talent like Lang get involved with a band that will likely turn out to be a flash in the pan?

Edit: Bare in mind, he's also worked with the ever-popular, relevant Hanson in the past as well. And for the benefit of those who have never heard of Jonny, here's a link for his video for "Lie to Me".
