Styles vs. Undertaker

He drops the belt to the Dead Man in early 2017 so we get a Taker/Cena title/retirement match at Mania, right?

That could be happen at Royal Rumble.

But I don't think that WWE would make Cena defeat and thus retire Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33.

He wouldnt make it to Mania. Styles would botch the clash on his giant old ass & thus end Taker for real.

Why would Cena vs Taker retirement match be for the belt?

If anything, Styles beats Taker in Houston, adding more fuel to his fire, walks into Mania as the ultimate champ while Cena and Taker have their match.

See this makes sense, isn't taker from texas?

He's more likely to show up in his home state

Rock or HBK vs AJ would be better.

Although, if they play the RR right, I would get behind a Triple Threat at Mania. Cena does his thing & eliminates folks, only for the gong to hit at #30. Both end up going over the top at the same time & Taker could go out as champ to close Mania. We all know he would hang it up at that point & it sounds better than Cena going over him on the way out. Then Cena can go over AJ for the vacated strap.

Fantasy scenario: Taker loses title match to Styles at Rumble, feigns retirement, Cena returns to challenge him to one more match at Mania, Cena turns heel in his match with Taker...

I'd have fun.

Cena can not retire Taker for the title. It'll be a terrible ending that everyone will shit over and rightfully so. You dont have Cena end taker now that the streak is done. Someone has to get a rub or Taker has to announce that it will be his final match regardless of the result if it is to be against Cena.

That's not how they do things. If they did then why was Ric Flair's retirement match against HBK and why did HBK have his against Undertaker?

Misreading audiences and them thinking Cena has enough respect to not get booed out of the building is also a WWE thing.

Cena isn't leaving that event without becoming a 16x champion

And it would create a 'Wrestle Mania' moment

HBK Ric Flair and Undertaker are completely different to Cena. Do you really want to watch another main event that gets completely shat on by the crowd? Will wwe care about it? No. Will it make a moment? Yes. I don't argue these parts but its still going to be terrible viewing

Cena/Taker would not get shat on. Even if Cena wins the emotional moment of the end of Taker will leave the crowd speechless for a few moments until someone starts a "Thank you Taker chant".

Exactly.

People would go nuts for this match either way you slice it. Some fans might boo if Cena wins, but the hate isn't anywhere near what it used to be.
