The elections here are today, so since KB and Sly are bound to talk about this all day anyway. Discuss it here and how you think it will turn out.

I started this early so people can make quick predictions on how this will turn out. I have Obama winning 303 to 235.

I have Mitt populous but Obama winning electoral college.

I see a comfortable victory by Obama. Not a wipeout by an stretch of the imagination, but a victory not nearly as close as the media would have you believe.

310-228

I think Romney takes Arizona, North Carolina, Virginia and Florida. Obama gets Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and keeps Pennslyvania.

According to most predictions, this puts the Electoral College vote at 255-248 in favor of Obama. From there, I think Obama has the advantage, but I think it will be very close.

Granted I have no experience with the electoral process in the United States, but I'm shocked in watching CNN and seeing some states whereby people have to line up for hours to vote, and it supposedly takes 10-20 minutes to complete the ballot? It's hard to imagine voter turnout being so high under these circumstances, I would think this is a daunting process which would keep lots of people away from the voting stations.

It does keep people away. This is why the early voting process is so important in so many states. It just makes you wonder why anyone would want to deny early voting.

And, let's be honest. This whole "vote on Tuesday" is absurd. It's time we get smarter. Move the election to an entire weekend (maybe even the Friday before). Polls should be open for 16 hours a day (5 a.m. to 9 p.m.). Early voting should be allowed for those who are physically incapable of transporting themselves to the polls.

This ridiculous notion of tradition, or whatever it is, needs to adapt with the times. We have the technology and resources to regulate the voting process appropriately and to keep the polls available to everyone.

It'll be a high turn out as it's a close election.

I hate that the news puts up that stupid fucking red state/blue state map, & then list only a few states as swing states. I feel if anything is going to discourage anyone from voting it's that fucking map. If say you're an Obama supporter living in a red state I (or vice versa) I just imagine you look at that map & think "Well wtf's the point then? Why should I waste my time if we already know the majority of the people in my state are going to vote opposite of me & my guy is just going to lose?"

Regardless I'll just be happy when tonights over & done with, so I can stop getting assholes knocking on my door, or calling me. I can stop seeing those stupid fucking yard signs, & annoying political ads on TV, & I can just go back to living my boring mundane life in peace.

So for those who missed it; Gelgarin News (seemingly the only news agency with no agenda to mislead the public by pretending that the election is closer than it is) called the result for Obama a few months ago. We stand by our proclamation and expect Mitt Romney's concession immanently.

This is like Christmas to me. And of course WWE has to put on a "live" Smackdown that will suck tonight.

I was going to rough it and watch the blasted thing so that I could act smug and superior at people, but sadly I'm being called into work first thing tomorrow morning to provide a translation consultation.

Fivethirtyeight is giving Obama a 91% chance of winning this bad boy. I'm hoping that those odds are right, because I'm very nervous about this election, perhaps even more nervous than I was in '08. I fully admit that's silly because McCain/Palin would likely have been way worse than Romney/Ryan would be, but I think undoing what Obama did in the past 4 years and starting from scratch could be detrimental to this country's progress.

I do get a kick out of the idea that Romney and Ryan are running on a platform of change and healthcare reform.

For me, living in a state that's going to Romney, the appeal is the Senate battle between McCaskill and Mr. Legitimate Rape, who amazingly has a legitimate chance at this election.

Plus it's so I can tell the Romney supporters around me how I was working to correct their mistake. ;)

How long has McCaskill been around? I feel like she's been involved in every election for like 15 years.

She ran for governor back in '04, but lost. Then she became Senator in '06. Plus she was in some kind of government position before governor, but I don't remember which position.

EDIT: Decided to look it up. She was state auditor starting in '98.

Man, I was almost right on with the 15 years thing. I just know that on the St. Louis channels back home, it seemed like every election she was either running for someone or she was being used for attack ads in other races.

Is there a bigger shithole in America than Philadelphia?

A Pennsylvania judge issued an order Tuesday to reinstate Republican election officials across Philadelphia who allegedly were ejected or refused entry by on-site Democratic voting chief judges.

One Republican official claimed that "just under 70" Republican election officials were blocked from Philadelphia polling sites Tuesday morning by Democrats on site. One of them, the official claimed, "was shoved out of the polling place."

"For this many inspectors to be ejected from polling places is rare, even for Philadelphia," the official told FoxNews.com.

It was one of several controversies surfacing in Pennsylvania's largest city on Election Day.

One polling site in Philadelphia apparently had a mural of President Obama emblazoned on the wall directly behind the voting machines. The mural, at a local school being used as a polling site, contained the words "change!" and "hope," along with a quote from the president.

Republicans were drawing attention to the image Tuesday morning, with one Mitt Romney spokesman tweeting: "Voters in Philly's Ward 35 are being forced to cast their ballots next to this."

"It is an absolute disgrace," said Shannon Royer, deputy secretary for external affairs and elections in Pennsylvania. "Election materials and electioneering inside the polling place are prohibited by state law. This can be interpreted as trying to influence voters inside the polling place. I am told discussions are going on now about covering the mural."

Pennsylvania election law states "no person within a polling place may electioneer or solicit votes for any political party, political body, or candidate, nor may any unauthorized written or printed materials be posted within the polling place."

Elsewhere in the city, a representative from the New Black Panther Party was also spotted outside a polling site. The New Black Panthers stirred controversy in 2008 when members appeared outside a polling site, one of them holding a billy club. The representative seen Tuesday morning was not armed.

The flap over the election judges, though, was widespread. Republicans claim they are obtaining a series of court orders to seat the so-called election "inspectors," and sheriff's deputies will be available to escort them.

Despite the high number of officials who were allegedly booted, the dispute itself is not uncommon for Philadelphia. Fred Voigt, legal counsel for the city commissioners, said these kinds of face-offs happen "with regularity" in the City of Brotherly Love.

"It happens all the time," Voigt said. He said court-appointed Republican officials typically show up on Election Day and end up squaring off against stand-in officials at the polling sites filling in the open seats. Part of the problem, he said, is that the Republican inspectors are appointed on relatively short notice, leading to a string of confrontations on Election Day.

"There are no cool heads here," Voigt said.

The on-site election officials are responsible for verifying the identity of voters, and monitoring for signs of fraud or disenfranchisement.

She has been around for a while. And she's always been hideous to look at.
