Misawa. He's Japan's greatest wrestler in regards to classic matches and rarely travelled outside of the country as a result. He's a local mega-star who rarely loses. He's regarded as one of the greatest wrestler's of all time, and revered in Japan especially. Gorgeous George is a superstar and hugely influential in his own right, but we're in Japan where he will be hamming it up some as public enemy number one and taking the subsequent fall to the local hero. Japan is the key here. Misawa drops the Gorgeous one of his head and vanquishes the evil forces to move on.

Argh, I think both are worthy winners, and Misawa will go through as it's in Japan, but I'll be voting for George. For me, I haven't watched much Misawa and even less George, and I can't speak Japanese so there are lots of things which are hard to compare, so I'm going to go a bit left field. Misawa is a huge influence on the internet favourites like Bryan and Punk, whereas George influenced literally every heel since himself, at least indirectly. Either could win, but I'm voting George.

I gotta go Misawa here. At a neutral site it would be a lot closer, but I'd probably still go Misawa. I just feel that his overall accomplishments in the ring were stronger.

This is no knock on Gorgeous George though. Just a victim of poor seeding. Good wrestler, and monumentally important. Misawa just fits the bill a little bit more though.

I appreciate that Misawa is probably going to be the go-to vote here because of the proportional success relative to the catchment area, but I've never thought much of him personally.

I'm sure that for the Japanese market, Misawa was the right fit. But my heart and mind tell me that George is much closer to what a wrestler should aspire to be. He did a lot with less and is remembered still today for his incorporation of his gimmick as a stand-out feature. He has a legacy that lives in the minds of the fans and students of the game, and I think he's not badly matched here.

I'm voting George.

Mitsuharu Misawa was one of the biggest wrestling stars in the 90's. Period. He had comparable popularity to Rock and Austin in the States. AJPW and NOAH were not small time promotions. They were huge companies working major markets, and they were pulling in the same sized audiences that the WWE had been even during their peak. WWE had better marketing, sure. But I'm sure AJPW could have made millions too if they had marketed a Misawa tee shirt with a cool skull on it.

I can understand the arguments for George. He was one of the most popular and influential wrestlers of all time. And as far as gimmicks go he was the most parodied performer of all time. And IMO nobody did it better than the original. However George did not have the longevity as a top star that Misawa had, he did not have the consistency, and he did not have the accolades either. I'd be voting for Misawa even if the location was more neutral, but I'm sure that will influence most of the votes regardless.

Voting Misawa.

Disclaimer: I won't pretend that I have in-depth wrestling knowledge about a wide range of superstars. So, I'm going to perform my voting a little differently. There will be 127 matches in total in this tournament. I've comprised a list of 63 random 1v1 events. I'll randomize the list and base my vote off the results of who I think would win the selected event with my odd logic.

This event: Rockwall Climbing

Logic: Neither of these guys look ready to climb a wall. Judging by the names alone, I'm going to guess that Gorgeous George has well-manicured hands. He probably wouldn't want to break a nail. Mitsuharu Misawa looks like he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Misawa wins, but he is heaving and breathing heavily the whole entire way.

Winner: Mouthwash Misawa
