So who should win Money in the Bank this year?

CM Steel

A REAL American
Well it looks like there will not be a Money in the Bank ladder match at the 30th Wrestlemania...but anyways.

Who should win Money in the Bank this year at the pay per-view this summer? Now that there's simply one world title in the WWE this years mitb ladder match will be the most important one because of it. If anything the concept takes us back to the original mitb ladder in the very beginning. One contract but only one world title to cash in on. And I think that the playing field should be larger this time around.

Remember back in 2011 when Daniel Bryan won the Smackdown side of the mitb ladder match and cashed it in later on that year to become a world champion for the first time in the WWE? Daniel Bryan has been in the WWE main event scene ever since and hasn't fallen down in the ranks even when he was in a tag team with Kane. So who should win Money in the Bank this year?

If I had to give an answer it would have to be...either Cody Rhodes or a heel Christian. Cody Rhodes because well he's never going to win a Royal Rumble match, and he can climb up things very fast in a match! And the mitb ladder match could do wonders for the career of Cody Rhodes. Christian as a heel because he could pull a C.L.B. (Creepy Little Bastard) move on the WWE champion after the champion has defend his title against another opponent(s) and cash in mitb right then! It's really Christian's only other shot to become a world champion again.

But in your opinion. Who should win Money in the Bank this year?

Cody Rhodes and Christian are good choices. Bad News Barrett winning MITB is also a good choice! I don't really think Cesaro needs the MITB to become world champ, albeit Cesaro holding the contract and later Swagger turning on him could end up being a good storyline. I guess Sandow should win once again too, since I can't think of another way to build Sandow back. Unless of course, if he begins a feud with Cena claiming ever since he lost to Cena he went down or something like that.

Tbh, if Chris Jericho returns and competes in the MITB match, I wish he won the match and then left only to return a few months later to cash in, or how about a WM cash in next year? That could be awesome. I want him to win a Rumble, but I'm not sure if that's gonna happen anymore unfortunately. So why not just give him a MITB victory?

Oh and it would be pretty awesome to see Rollins win MITB, Reigns wins the world championship at Summerslam or Survivor Series defeating Brock Lesnar, Ambrose wins Royal Rumble and all this finally culminates in a triple threat at WM between all three members of the Shield

I'm still at the point where I'm yet to be convinced that Cody Rhodes will ever be a World Champion. Every time he has some momentum, it slows down almost instantly. It happened when he beat Mysterio at Wrestlemania, and when he won the Intercontinental Title, and when he put on a great performance in Money in the Bank, and when the Brotherhood won the tag titles. He can hold the crowd's attention for one night, then people quickly forget about him.

Also, not Christian. Ever. His time has long come and gone. He had a good few months in the World Title picture when he feuded with Orton, now let's move on.

Guys like Ziggler, Barrett, Kofi, etc. just aren't there. They've kind of settled themselves into midcarder for life positions.

Off the top of my head, it's actually quite tricky to pick a future Money in the Bank holder, because we currently have a lot of upper midcarders who don't need the briefcase. I don't think Big E needs it. Reigns and Wyatt definitely don't need it. So who's left?

To me, it's between three people. Cesaro, and the two other members of the Shield. All guys are really talented and could make for decent short-term World Champions. I know there are a few people who see Ambrose as the future top heel in the business simply because he makes everyone look so good. If I had to put those three in order of their chances of winning, it would be Cesaro, Ambrose, Rollins.

Also, there's an outside dark horse in the form of Alexander Rusev. He looks set to get the "Big Heel Push" package. Squashing jobbers, beating midcarders clean, skipping a midcard title win, then getting his hands on Money in the Bank. It wouldn't surprise me at all. Hopefully WWE has learned their mistake from Ryback.

If it had to be a face, I would want it to be Kofi Kingston. The one thing I think his performances lack is significant hype. The man can hang with anybody on the card and his maneuvers would be nearly impossible for most on the roster to mimic. He's often criticized for his lack of mic skills, being a MITB winner would give him more opportunities to connect with us on the mic. I expect him to be a class act and only cash in for the chance at a one-on-one match at a PPV.

If I had to choose a heel, I'd pick Bad News Barrett. For my money, Barrett is the best heel of them all. Maybe jazz up his finisher a little, instead of tossing his opponent off his shoulders maybe spin them around the opposite of an F5 and turn it into a neck cutter. Just saying, Wasteland doesn't do it for me. I can see him working his briefcase into his promos, causing him to get so deep under the current champ's skin that the champ will go ballistic and demand that Barrett lower his platform. Barrett cashes in one day, and loses. The ref opens the briefcase, and there's a sandwich an apple and a bottled orange juice inside. Barrett never cashed in the actual briefcase, thus he's still got it.

Well I hope they have 2 m.I.b matches at that ppv.
With one cashing in on the night Bryan gets a big win
Over Batista. Then while celebrating, Ambrose runs out with Ryan
Attacking Bryan. But doesn't get an easy victory
Is made to work , with people expecting Bryan to win.
Ambrose would have a great Fued
With Bryan and enjoy his 1st ran as champ. A new shield assisting
With victorys. Ambrose, mason Ryan, Cory graves,Mojo rawley and yes drew McIntyre.
McIntyre wil suite this role.
Rollins and reigns wil be fine with single runs. Ambrose for now suites
Being a leader and bossing people around. I think wade Barrett would
Be great as well. Lets say Bryan beats Batista in m.I.b main event.
After the match Oliver grey and Danny birch and Adrianne Nevilleome out
With matching British flag type outfits, Take out bryan
Then wade barret music hits. Cashes in with easy victory.
Jumping on th Mic saying this is a British invasion etc
Announcing we are "the union jacks"(wwe made a mistake with 3mb using that name.
We would see great fueds with the title something new.
Another would be Cody Rhodes. As a face winning m.I.b
And coming out after Bryan wins. Doesn't cash in.
Announces he will cash and wants one on one with Bryan
In a ladder match at the next ppv . I'd have Cody get a manager.
Goldust or dusty, jimmy heart? Hogan? Or a diva not being used.
Have Rhodes beat Bryan fair. Deserves a run. Wwe fans will
Love it. Having Bryan, cena,Orton,Batista, lesnar, ziggler with Barrett,Ambrose, Rhodes
Added to main event picture. I would not have cesaro win m.I.b.
I'd have him win the rumble and main eventing with cena or angle
At mania 31 and winning.

Like i said though by having two m.I.b matches
I'd definitely have bray Wyatt win the other.
Have him threaten to cash in all year.
Then ruin cesaros big win and be the 1st
To cash in after the main event at mania 31.
Champion all over him. Id also have bo Dallas
And yes Curtis axel join the wyatts.

So yeah keeping on subject. Bray Wyatt
And either Rhodes,Ambrose or Barrett.

But we know what wwe is like.
So don't be suprised if cena, sheamus,Batista, del Rio
Titus oniel win it lol

Title picture after mania will probably be cena,Orton,Batista
Bryan, lesnar and sheamus and del rio

IMHO, the best person to win this year is the only guy to ever cash in and then lose the match, Damian Sandow. Have him win it and hold on to it for awhile then cash in with advance notice instead of the typical opportunist style, with the intent on redeeming himself on the previous shortcoming. Win the match and title for a short run.

I still think Batista will be World Champ at some point. He has his movie releasing in the Summer and it would be something the WWE would do. This could happen at Mania but Bryan looks set to win. Batista winning Money in the Bank is something I could see happening and it would be another accolade to his name. Him cashing in on Bryan could be a pretty enjoyable moment and the PPV is just before the realise of his movie.

Other than Batista there aren't many options. Now there is only one World Title so the WWE will be cautious. Cesaro would be a good choice but he needs to have a singles run first - lets not ignore his lack of mic skills. They could maybe use someone like The Miz or The Big Show to act as transitional champs but Money in the Bank is probably more deserving.

I want to see Sheamus have another run and he definitely has the quality. It would be safe and he can be heel or face which helps. While I'd love to see Cody Rhodes win, I think it is unlikely. He is still in a tag-team and there doesn't seem to be a plan for him. Reigns' first World Title definitely won't be a cash in.

I'd say Batista and Sheamus are the top choices. Cesaro and Ambrose are possibilities but it could go wrong - Sandow style. Lesnar winning would be awesome. It would be a great way of putting the belt on him for next years Mania.

Its hard to say who will MITB this year!! Batista though at some point due to his movie, coming out will be WWE WHC at some point.. MITB gives him the perfect opportunity to do this.. Hows this for a scenario? Say Batista wins the MITB,has a match against D-Bry at Summerslam for the WWE WHC with Bryan being champion. Bryan defeats Batista with the Yes lock, and Batista is so pissed just beats Bryan to a pulp, then cashes in this MITB Briefcase!! To my knowledge this scenario has never occured

Oh and it would be pretty awesome to see Rollins win MITB, Reigns wins the world championship at Summerslam or Survivor Series defeating Brock Lesnar, Ambrose wins Royal Rumble and all this finally culminates in a triple threat at WM between all three members of the Shield

I've seen a lot of fantasy booking of The Sheild, but that...that's just beautiful. I have been clamoring to see the Triple Threat match between them, but they still hold plenty of interest as a team. This would be an amazing slow build to one of the greatest payoffs in recent memory.

Of course I highly doubt it would happen as the Royal Rumble victory and Wrestlemania Main Event will no doubt be served to more established guys. This is why I was never a proponent of taking away the WHC. That would allow for this feud to actually happen while meanwhile restoring the prestige and interest for that title.

Easy Bray Wyatt. It's his year. He will beat Cena at WM 30. Lose to him at Extreme Rules. The Wyatt's and Cena will be separated into other feuds. Then, at MITB 2014 PPV Harper & Rowan will help Bray Wyatt beat down Cena while the EATER OF WORLDS captures the briefcase. Bray will wait a while to cash-in. I'm saying Survivor Series or the night after.

kofi kingston. everybody loves the guy and alot of people clammor for him to go heel. if he won it, everybody would expect him to do the honorable thing and use it for a full match against a fresh champ....... thats where we get the snap. have lets say a face db be champ(hint hint) and have after a successful title defense, have hhh and his cronys beating down db after the match. kofi runs down to make the save and clears the ring. as he helps db to his feet he blasts him in the head with the briefcase cashes in and pins him winning the big one. i can see that almost as big a betrayal as when hogan turned heel in wcw. not because kofi was the biggest thing in wrestling, but because he has always been the good guy his whole career and turned and screwed the hottest thing in wrestling(db) over to win the title. can u even imagine how much the crowd will go nuts to see kofi come down to help only to screw him over by turning heel.

Cody Rhodes. He's paid his dues, being in The Legacy, tagging with Sandow and Goldust, even was a respectable IC champion.

My biggest worry with him was how he could be a face. I figured he would be like how The Miz is now, better as a mid card heel. But seeing how the crowd bought into him almost winning MITB last year and him tagging with Goldust, main event would be the next step.

Him winning MITB would put a new face in the tite picture

I like the thought of Bray Wyatt winning it. Harper or Rowan would carry it around for him and I think when he wins the title Harper and Rowan should each hold a belt for him, aside from him obviously doing his 'cross-pose' with a title in each hand.

Bray Wyatt easily. His work has earned it, and his character should treat it as an afterthought. He is like Jake Roberts, yes, as everyone says, he likely will never NEED a title to be a legend, WWE should play on that.

I would say Bray Wyatt... but can you really imagine him climbing up a ladder and grabbing the briefcase... Idk it just seems weird to me. I think he'd be more likely to burn the damn contract than actually use it.

As for who I would like to see win... when people first said Kofi I wasn't a big fan but than I started thinking more about it and like somebody said above a heel turn would be so awesome for Kofi, especially if he blindsides Bryan with the TIP and pins him to win. MAJOR heat right there and dammit Kofi deserves it. Nobody would expect him to win it and nobody would expect him to turn heel, it'd be great. But can he run with it is the question.

I will suggest Barrett. Long overdue for a sustainable push, While I liked his other "personas" better than BNB, he looks to have what it takes.

My vote is for Cody. I used to hate him, like real heat, not heel heat. But now I'm really into him. And something I really like is that he's always trying to add a new move in here or there. He's definitely earned it.

I'm dying for Barrett to get it, anything to get that big SOB into the world title hunt as he deserves. A guy pushed like he was with the Nexus invasion and his solid runs as Intercontinental Champion really deserves his chance to claim the gold and this would be the perfect thing to push him back into the mix. He floundered for a while, had his injuries and that bad hair for a while but all the while being a great worker and one of the most underrated talkers currently on the roster. At this point he's seasoned, he's improved his look by toning up and I'm digging the hair and beard. Get this man his briefcase so he can finally have the gold around his waist like he was destined to! After all he was mentored by the first Undisputed Champ….

Brock Lesnar. Brock's been campaigning for a title shot since the end of 2013. The Authority refuse to give it to him. Instead, he had to settle for a match against Taker at WM which he shocked the world and won.

Brock makes a brief appearance on the RAW after WM and no title shot for him mentioned either. Instead, we're treated to Batista/HHH/Orton all wanting a shot at the title. However, The Shield takes all three of them out of the picture, which leads to Kane probably stepping in despite losing his match at WM and losing to Bryan multiple times over the past few months on free TV.

Brock could enter the MITB as a surprise entrant like The Miz did in 2012 and win, disappear and show up whenever and win the title to headline WM XXXI.

His appearances would get more a reaction from the crowd and more people would tune in to see if he cashes in whenever he shows up.

Cesaro would be the favourtie going in I think, but I am not sure it's a good fit for him or that he needs it now he has Heyman as his manager. Sheamus is a dark horse, he's treading water right now and could use the cash-in on Bryan, maybe trying to riff off the 18 second win, as a jump off point to a much needed heel turn.

Personally I'd love to see Seth Rollins win it, I could see him as the next great Ladder match specialist and this would be a great way to get him to the next level. I know all the talk is about Reigns but It hink Rollins has a bright future as well and this is not really the way I'd go with getting Reigns his first title shot.

It depends on how many briefcases they will have this year and what title tiers get a briefcase now that there is only one World Championship. Assuming they keep the red and blue format, there will probably be a red World Championship briefcase and a blue Intercontinental/US Championship briefcase. They may add a tag team briefcase or even a divas briefcase although if they went that route the divas would probably have male wrestlers representing them with the male winner getting a midcard title shot for his victory.

If we are talking main event tier Money In the Bank winner.... Any member of The Shield, Bray Wyatt, Cesaro, or my personal pick.... Wade Barrett. If he can get built up during the summer with his Bad News persona, it can be done. He missed out on a rumored win when he got injured and he deserves a chance with the work he has put in. Or if they want to go the route of former World Champions like they did with Cena and Orton, my pick would go to Sheamus. It's the only major accomplishment he does not have on his resume yet. Sheamus holding up the red briefcase would be an awesome moment to end the Money In the Bank PPV with.

If there is a midcard or tag team tier briefcase.... the decision is a bit harder. There really isn't anyone on the roster in need of a break out push in the midcard. I'd probably have the Wyatts win if it's for a tag team. For a midcard title, it's really anyone's game. Most names in the current midcard could do well with a briefcase push to a belt, as long as WWE gives them a push where they are booked properly. Fandango maybe? No one really stand out as needing it at this time. If my divas idea gets played out with males representing them, I would have Santino win a pink briefcase for Emma that she can use for the Divas Championship at any time, this win gets him an Intercontinental Championship title shot for his winning effort in the match.

Of the current Relevant guys on the Roster....I'd have Cesaro win it.

Why?
I don't think Cesaro'll win the IC title after this tournament, since his feud with Swagger isn't finished(although at a house show recently, Swagger did win the IC title for little bit until it was overturned; could have been a tester for things to come).

With the MitB soon after Extreme Rules(Payback then MitB), I think Cesaro'll be a huge contender, and as the new Heyman guy, he would be perfect especially for a long term story to develop going forward, especially if a Brock vs Bryan match is done at SummerSlam and Brock wins the WWE WHC then.

Cesaro can then cash in, and turn face and against Heyman and Brock at some point thereafter. Would be a perfect push,lMO.
